4 Keyword Syntax Elements – User Value(s) User Provided Values The bold green entries are values that must be provided by the programmer. The usually have a name that indicates the type of value that is required. Additional details about the value will be shown below the syntax line. If the value is shown in quotation marks, the value provided must be enclosed in quotation marks. For some values the meaning column will indicate when the value must be quoted. Generally numeric values are not quoted while literal alphanumeric (a.k.a string) values are quoted. Fieldnames are not literals, and hence appear to be an exception to the rule. 8/9/20114www.AVITER.com

5 Keyword Syntax Elements – Optional Value(s) Optional Values The bold orange entries are values that must be provided from a list of acceptable options. If the syntax line shows the value in quotation marks, the value must always be quoted. For some values the meaning column will indicate when the value must be quoted. Generally numeric values are not quoted while literal alphanumeric (a.k.a string) values are quoted. Fieldnames are not literals, and hence appear to be an exception to the rule. When the list of values is listed elsewhere in the keysheet, the page number of the list is shown and is hyperlinked. 8/9/20115www.AVITER.com

6 Keyword Syntax Elements – Meaning Meaning or Description This will contain a description of the purpose of the keyword. Special input and output format options are often included. Special requirements are usually shown in a different color. LegacyDate, SmartDate and DateTime data types are shown in a plum color, to list but one example. Other special requirements are often shown in a light blue color. This is done to emphasize that the programmer must pay attention to the form of the value provided. 8/9/20116www.AVITER.com
