Curiosities Anthym -> "Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayham -> The Red Hot Chili Peppers Musical Style: The Peppers' musical style is a mix of funk, alternative rock, hard rock and punk rock. The band's influences include Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Bob Marley, Big Boys, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, Black Flag, Ornette Coleman, Led Zeppelin, Fishbone, Santana and Miles Davis.
Brief History Antony Kiedis and Hillel Slovak were addicted to cocaine around 1985 and in the next year he went to a rehabilitation clinic. In 1988 Hillel Slovak died of a heroin overdose resulting in Irons departure. People thought it would be the end of The Red Hot Chili Peppers but then, Kiedis and Flea decided to reform their group and they found Chad Smith and John Frusciante. In 1990, the group signed with Warner Bros Records and recorded the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik in Harry Houdinis Mansion. This album became the first successful album. Frusciante grew uncomfortable with the success of the band and left in 1992, in the middle of the album tour. He increased his use of heroin and spent almost all of his money with heroin. Out of money he came back to the band, which was good for him and the band of course.
