Imagine Auto Inc. – 913 310-9927 A baseline set of testing methodologies was determined and communicated to all manufactures prior to the tests. Consistent testing methodologies ensure accurate, comparable results were achieved. Although different test scenarios would have produced higher or lower numbers, these methodologies and scenarios ensure the results are comparable from muffler to muffler. A 2001 Porsche 996TT with 20,000miles, stage 4 ECU upgrade, and K24 turbos was used. A minimum of 50 miles was put on the car with each muffler to account for ECU calibration Dynojet 248 Dynamometer DB tests were taken 12 ft from rear of the car by a Radio Shack Digital db Reader part number 33-2055 Backpressure tested 3 post turbo and 3 pre cat 3k constant load pulls were done on the dyno, under part throttle load. SAE HP correction was done based on weather station information. The correction factor for all runs was 1.06-1.07DIN. Intake temperatures were held to within 10 degrees F Resonance is judged on whether or not a conversation can be carried on with someone in the back seat.

The workmanship and quality is certainly what you would expect from a European product. The muffler is well packaged and the unit is sold with several goodies such as an angled wrench and handle to ease installation. Exhaust tips are also included in the package and for a small fee can be upgraded to the X50 look. Sound is sometimes hard to put into words. Imagine a throaty sound and a slight rasp under full acceleration. The muffler sets the standard for pleasant sound and zero resonance. There is a sound presence through the midrange, however it just reminds you that the muffler is there. The Europipe mufflers claim to fame is the large 70mm pipes compared to the factory's 60mm. The system is rather bulky and compares to the factory muffler in regards to weight and difficulty of installation. A 2 Year warranty is included

The exhaust utilizes the separate cat system and attachment based on V-band clamps. If you are upgrading from the Super Sport, the system can be interchanged in about 15 minutes leaving the cats in the car. The quality is consistent to other Fabspeed products with that same impressive mirror polish. The overall sound of the Fabspeed Sport Quiet is pleasant. If the Fabspeed Super Sport is too much for everyday driving, this one may be just right. Resonance is slightly detectable around the 2500 mark. This muffler doesn't prohibit any conversation or create an annoyance for daily driving. The system sounds throaty with a hint of burble on deceleration. Full acceleration produces an exotic howl that will make those standing on the curb look up. System includes V-bands, aircraft clamps, muffler straps and hardware.

The original GTII Super Sport is a three-piece design that utilizes separate 100 Cell German cats. The system uses the V-band clamp system for faster on and off access and install time. The system has been updated since its original debut through a restructuring of the mounting brackets and a small design change to lower resonance levels. Overall quality is nothing less than FabSpeed has shown us through the years. This system is not for the faint of heart. The Super Sport GTII does resonant and lets you and your surroundings know you mean business. If you enjoy the raw sound of the turbos spooling up and the backpressure flutter, then this system would be ideal. The muffler is constructed from 63.5 T304SS and the kit is equipped with V-bands, mounting brackets, tailpipe pieces and aircraft quality clamps.

They are designed to attach directly to the cats and allow a dual muffler bypass. The system is interchangeable in about 15 minutes even under the hottest conditions. We changed this system out with a set of gloves on the dyno. Anyone headed to the track or drag strip will appreciate this option.

The cats are separate from the mufflers and instead of one common canister, two separate mufflers are used. 100 Cell metal media cats are piped into a 3-inch pipe then to the muffler. The tailpipe is necked back to factory size to allow for factory fitment of the tips. Installation of this muffler is as easy as it gets. Because of the separate mufflers and removable cats the system can be installed in less than an hour. The quality and welds of these mufflers are definitely from the upper echelon of the aftermarket world. Almost unheard of is the lifetime warranty this muffler carries. The GHL sound is rather unique. It carries a hollow throat and a high-end rasp that is much different than factory. It is noticeable but not overpowering. GHL mufflers are known for no resonance and that was very clear to the ear. The muffler is equipped with support straps and is constructed from T304SS.

RUF starts with a factory muffler and retools it to their specifications. The muffler quality is good given the majority of it is factory. Cats and the original outlets are removed to accommodate RUF's signature two-pipe outlets. The rest of the design is kept secret by the German designers. Sound is excellent. It is as quiet as a factory muffler with a little more emphasis on the flutter and throat that you can just barely detect on the factory system. The muffler maintains the factory lack of resonance and is barely audible driving down the road. The system is supplied with all new nuts and gaskets. Due to its size, installation is awkward just as on the factory muffler. We would like to point out that this muffler can be purchased separate of the RUF system, however it is very clear that the muffler has been designed to work particularly with the RUF setup. This is important to note when studying the performance test results. NOTE: A factory muffler baseline was rerun after the RUF test since the RUF produced unexpected low results through the midrange. The baseline was identical to the first baseline. The results are unexplained and may represent a problem with just this particular muffler.

Seven versions exist and are based on minimal backpressure, minimum weight and maximum HP. Wrapped in thermal blankets the systems get the energy out of the muffler as fast as possible. Installation is as simple as it gets because of the size and lack of weight. It actually took more time to hook the 02 sensors up than it did to install this system. Sound is not what this muffler had in mind when designed. Built around track use these mufflers are quiet enough to pass track db limits. They do carry resonance in most RPM ranges inside the interior. All of which is not an issue on the track or under a helmet. For the cost, no one can complain.
