0 Pharma Contract Management Software Evaluation Client Profile Client Benefits Mindlance Solution Our client is a leading investor in expanding technology companies. Mindlance was contracted to perform an assessment of an emerging software vendor in the commercial and government contracting industry. Results of the assessment were used to decide if they should provide angel funding to this software company. Goals of the assessment were to evaluate potential of this software company, the existing and future state of the market and comparison of potential competitors. Our client has been able to gain a better understanding of the current market, feature/function and technology comparison The software company was able to learn high level gaps in their software and organization itself. Mindlance was involved in assessing the company in 3 areas: Market Assessment Software vs Outsourcing: an analysis was conducted on how pharma companies of various sizes handle commercial and government contracting. This analysis included a definition of revenue tiers, calculation of the size of each tier and how companies in each tier handle their contracting operations. Competitive Landscape: a review of the history, current state and future outlook of all competitive software companies was conducted. Technical Assessment Organization: the current structure of their product development and QA teams were analyzed for current state, liabilities, scalability and technical competence. Processes and Documentation: a review of their SDLC, product management, release schedule and product documentation was conducted. Technology: an assessment of the current and future technology used was conducted. The following areas were included Back End Database Data model Front End Front end development language Data conversion and integration architecture Alert and notification architecture Customization methodology Reporting architecture Installation landscape Product Assessment: Feature/Function: an in depth review of system functionality was conducted to evaluate the effort required to build required features into the system to strongly compete in the industry. Usability: overall usability of the system was evaluated to determine ease of use, number of clicks/screens, access to the data
1 Commercial Contracting Systems Implementation Client Profile Client Benefits Mindlance Solution Our client is among the top 10 specialty pharmaceutical companies worldwide and is differentiated by focus on innovation and customer orientation. Our client leads the industry by focusing on research and development efforts in five distinct areas Diagnostic Imaging, Hematology/Cardiology, Oncology, Specialized Therapeutics and Women's Healthcare. Our client selected the I-many CARS NG application to automate their rebate and chargeback processing functions. Mindlance resources were engaged to provide technical leadership on the implementation project. Our client has been able to realize full benefit of the I-many solution to capture duplicate/invalid rebate and chargeback submissions line items, accurately validate current membership, automate the contract maintenance and bid award notification process and process claims on a timely basis. Mindlance resources were engaged by I-many to serve as technical architect and lead on I-manys first implementation of CARS NG with full data integration with SAP. Our client went live in February 2008.On this project Mindlance resources were responsible for the following: Initial requirement gatherings and planning Overall technical lead/architect for all data integration and implementation Installation and configuration of all of their environments Designed and developed multiple enhancements for functionality that was not part of base product and was required for the implementation Designed and developed over ten data interfaces both inbound and outbound Worked closely with I-many engineering team in resolving any base product issues Provided technical training to client resources Designed and created a reporting solution from scratch including nightly ETL Mindlance is providing one full time Business Analyst and one fulltime Technical Analyst to provide long term production support of I-many CARS NG. Day to day support of contracting operations and troubleshooting application and configuration issues Liaison between IT Team, Business Users and I-many. Initial requirement gatherings and planning for new requirements. Responsible for preparing all design documentations and getting proper approvals Enhancements in the base product in order to process master data, rebates, chargebacks and build interfaces between SAP and CARS NG Performed various complementary functions including database tuning, data auditing, ad-hoc reporting, technical training and help troubleshooting any issues around ECMF and CARS NG Worked closely with I-many engineering and support team in resolving any base product issues Involved in continuous data improvement effort.
2 Merger of Commercial Contracting and Medicaid Rebates Systems Client Profile Client Benefits Mindlance Solution Our client is a Japanese research-based human health care company that discovers, develops and markets products throughout the world. Our client focuses its efforts in three therapeutic areas: integrative neuroscience, including neurology and psychiatric medicines; gastrointestinal disorders; and integrative oncology, including oncotherapy and supportive-care treatments. Through a global network of research facilities, manufacturing sites and marketing affiliates, our client actively participates in all aspects of the worldwide healthcare system. Our client forecasts group sales of 739 billion yen in FY2007. More than 50% of the group sales are derived from businesses outside of Japan. Our clients recent acquisition of another pharmaceutical company created a need to combine systems and operations for both the government and commercial contracting areas. On the Medicaid Rebate processing side, our client and the company they purchased were using independent instances of the I-many Medicaid system to support their operations. On the Commercial Contracting side, one company was using I- manys DPS system and while our client was using I-many CARS system. Our client has been able to retire the legacy applications being used by the company the acquired and streamlined their contracting operations across the 2 companies. The goal of this project was to combine systems and operations in the areas of Commercial Contracting and Medicaid Rebate processing into a single system for the combined company. In the Medicaid Rebate area, the goal was to transfer summary level data from one companys I-many Medicaid system into our clients I-many Medicaid system and use only our clients I-many Medicaid system to manage this function going forward for the combined company. In the Commercial Contracting area, the goal of the project was to transfer contract, customer, membership, eligibility and historical transaction data from I-many DPS system into our clients I-many CARS system and use only the I- many CARS system to manage this function going forward for the combined company. Scope of the project also include ensuring historical data was converted into their government contracting system (ModelN)
3 Commercial and Government Pricing Projects at Leading Generic Pharma Co. Client Profile Client Benefits Mindlance Solution Our client is a global pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, production and marketing of generic and proprietary branded pharmaceuticals as well as active pharmaceutical ingredients. Our client is among the top 20 pharmaceutical companies and among the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in the world. Our client utilizes the I-many suite of applications for contract management (I-many CARS, I-many Medicaid and I-many Government Pricing). Mindlance is the exclusive provider of technical resources for supporting these systems and is responsible for providing full time, day-to-day, onsite and remote technical support. Our client has been able to increase performance of the I-many applications, thus enabling their business users to realize more productivity in their daily work. Mindlance has provided our client with better visibility into their data, thus enabling better informed and intelligent business decisions. Mindlance has lead the technical effort on the following projects: Company Merger: Our client purchased another pharma manufacturer 2006. Mindlance led the technical integration of contract management systems between the two companies. Mindlance resources developed processes to merge I-many CARS Customer, Product and Contract data, automated membership loads and general data cleanup across the two companies. Performance Tuning: The company has over 200 million adjudication records and Mindlance tuned the I-many CARS system to realize an 80% increase in performance. Database Tuning: Indexes, partitioning of high volume transaction tables, migration to UNIX from Linux. Accept and Contract Validation Process: Removed redundant checks and tuned queries. Accept process went from 14+ hours down to 3+hours. Batch processing: : Re-configured batch so that it completes during the overnight batch window. Moved CARS from individual desktops to Citrix based centralized solution. Implemented a Reporting Data Store and Report Development: Implementation of CARS/RDS and development of 40+ reports in Oracle Discover to give our client more visibility into CARS and Medicaid data. Also responsible for building all of the data feeds into the datastore. Customizations: Design and development of complex CARS customizations in the areas of contract validation and amend, accept process, contract pricing automation and membership automation. Upgrades: I-many CARS upgrade from v3.10 to v3.12 Government Pricing:-Modifications to SQLPacks and ReportPacks for ASP, BP and NFAMP based on DRA requirements.
