1 The “Lantern” Procedure to Simplify Treatment of Retrograde Type A Dissection After Thoracic Endograft Stenting  Chung-Lin Tsai, MD  The Annals of Thoracic Surgery  Volume 101, Issue 4, Pages e129-e131 (April 2016) DOI: /j.athoracsur Copyright © 2016 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Terms and Conditions

2 Fig 1 (A) Computed tomography aortogram showed acute retrograde type A aortic dissection (RTAD). The dissecting tear site related to RTAD started just at the greater curvature of the arch proximal edge to the thoracic endovascular aortic repair device (arrow). (B) Computed tomography aortogram revealed type A aortic dissection with pericardial effusion. The comorbidity of liver cirrhosis with much ascites was also found. 3 Fig 2 The “Lantern” procedure: a Zenith Dissection Endovascular Stent (William Cook Europe ApS, Bjaeverskov, Denmark) is implanted in the aortic arch (the two solid arrows) and combined with creating supraaortic arch vessel debranching and reconstructing of the aortic root (the single solid arrow). The hollow arrow indicates the previous TEVAR device. ☆Shows the configuration of Chinese lantern craft. 4 Fig 3 (A) A Zenith Dissection Endovascular Stent (William Cook Europe ApS, Bjaeverskov, Denmark) was overlapped in place of the proximal conventional replaced tubular graft and distally placed into the stent graft placed during the previous thoracic endovascular aortic repair. (B) A computed tomography aortogram revealed the opposition of the dissected septum, reexpansion of the true lumen, and false lumen thrombosis after the simplified procedure.
