2012 DC Ranch Community Council Annual Report
Dear DC Ranch Stakeholder: 2012 marked important milestones for both DC Ranch and Arizona: we celebrated 15 years as a community, and 100 years as a state. The inter-connectedness of the two histories were acknowledged through storytelling in Ranch News. In a series of articles, we learned that DC Ranch is part of a 55- year tradition of successful planned communities and explored how cattle ranching -- and later golf -- influenced Arizona's economy. We also learned about the families who call DC Ranch home: military families, seasonal residents, single-parent families, couples who care for aging parents, and even a widowed couple who got a second chance at love. Where we've been as a state and who we are as a community are elements that create a special sense of place that is uniquely DC Ranch. Whether at a community event, out for a stroll on our paths and trails, or at an afternoon game of bridge, the Community Council is proud to provide the means through which a welcoming and inclusive community is achieved. DC Ranch's community centers are two primary hubs for brining neighbors together. In 2012, it was time to give the buildings a makeover. At Desert Camp, a second multi-purpose room with convenient access to the pool was created. The lobby at The Homestead was reconfigured to create a more welcoming and versatile space for activities hosted at the center. Despite the construction at the community centers, 2012 saw a record participation in activities, events, and programs. Financially, the Community Council remained diligent in managing community resources wisely. We are pleased to present the 2012 Community Council annual report and invite you to review the highlights and accomplishments we enjoyed as a community. Sincerely, Rich Puricelli, Board President Christine Irish, Executive Director
