7. Jesus gives us three parables in Matthew Chapter 25

8. Today we are going to look at two of them

12. Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

14. There are three BASIC parts to a Jewish wedding

15. PART ONE The parents of the children agree on the marriage and establish a dowry

16. PART TWO The bridegroom, along with his brothers and friends, go to the brides house to claim her as his very own

17. PART TWO This was usually done in the evening and the bride would be prepared for his coming

18. PART TWO She would then join the bridegroom and return with him to his home (his fathers house)

19. PART THREE There would be a huge party that would often last for an entire week. After these events, they would return to their own home.

20. Matthew 25:2-4 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

21. 5 Virgins were FOOLISH : They took lamps with no oil!

22. 5 Virgins were WISE : They took lamps with oil!

23. Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. The bridegroom delayed in coming for the bride, and they all got sleepy and actually dozed off

24. Matthew 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. The Midnight Call: The Bridegroom Comes!

25. Matthew 25:7-9 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

26. They all got up and began working to light their lamps

27. The problem was – only five of the lamps actually worked!

28. The 5 foolish women said: Give us some of your oil!

29. The 5 wise women said: No Way Hose-a

30. The 5 wise women said: There is not enough for both us and you too!

31. The 5 wise women said: Go Get Your Own!

32. So what happened?

33. Matthew 25:10-12 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

34. When they got back to the procession, they were already in the fathers house, and the door was shut! THE PARTY HAD STARTED!

35. The bridegroom said: I DONT KNOW YOU!

36. Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. THE POINT

37. We dont know when Jesus is coming again We can and must know that we are born again through Jesus Christ We cannot make other people believe in Jesus Christ. It is their personal choice! It is foolish to wait until the last minute to believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior! 38. 2 Corinthians 6:2b (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Matthew 25:14-15 14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

49. A Talent was a sum of money

50. In Jesus day, a talent would be equivalent to about 20 years worth of savings

51. A talent equaled about $500,000 in todays money

52. Businessman #1 5 talents = $2,500,000 Businessman #2 2 talents = $1,000,000 Businessman #3 1 talent = $500,000 Businessman #1 5 talents = $2,500,000 Businessman #2 2 talents = $1,000,000 Businessman #3 1 talent = $500,000

53. Matthew 25:16-17 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. DO THE MATH

65. A lot of Christians are afraid to serve the Lord All Out!

66. They are afraid to lead and take responsibility

67. They are afraid to give to Gods work It Scares Them To Death! They are afraid to give to Gods work It Scares Them To Death!

68. Dow Jones dont hold a candle to God when it comes to being tough on investment returns!

Matthew 25:19-23 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. 20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. A DAY OF RECKONING THE LORD RETURNS! A DAY OF RECKONING THE LORD RETURNS!

76. Matthew 25:24-30 24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: A DAY OF RECKONING THE LORD RETURNS! A DAY OF RECKONING THE LORD RETURNS!

90. Dont claim you have no gifts Know you will be judged by God according to what he has given you If you dont use it, youll lose it!
