9 Materials: Game board Colored plastic counters Crayons Students choose animals and plants (from a list of characteristics about each animal and plant) to build their habitat. They must choose a specific numbers of animals and plants they think will survive in their habitat. The animals and plants being chosen is based on what a plant or animal needs for food, shelter and water in their environment. They have to make sure that all animals and plants are able to survive in the area of the habitat they are going to place it. They understand there is competition between animals and plants as they try to make their habitat live and thrive.

10 Survivor Students (in small groups) are given a game board that is laid out in a grid. Some areas are designated as water, rocks or trees. The students then choose plants and animals to develop their habitat taking into consideration the needs of each life form for survival.
