3 Definition Carnival is known as the day before Ash Wednesday (in February or March). Carnival is known as the day before Ash Wednesday (in February or March). It is called Fasching or Fastnacht. On these days many people dress up and celebrate in the streets or they go to a carnival party and every foolish behviour is allowed.
