3 About the WorkFirst Calculator The WorkFirst homework calculator is designed to assist you in figuring out participation hours. The calculator is an Excel based application. It is found in the WorkFirst handbook and on the SBCTC website. A paper copy of the calculator should be kept in the students file.

Unsupervis ed Study Hours Maximum number of Study Hours Additional supervised study hours possible Total Scheduled Supervised Study Hours Projected Total Participati on Hours (Simplified Formulas:) Enter Hours Enter Credits "Y" or "N" =IF(D="Y", B, 0) =IF(D="Y",C* 3,B) =IF(D="Y",F -E,0) Enter Hours=B+E+H 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 000 0 TOTAL00 0 000 * "Total Scheduled Supervised Study Hours" (H) cannot exceed "Additional supervised Study Hours possible" (G). Hours are calculated based on class hours and homework hours allowed. Homework can be unsupervised or supervised. Unsupervised is 1:1. Maximum study hours allowed is 3 times the credit hours.
