2 State-Wide Transition Plan
All Official GED Testing Centers transitioned by September 1, 2012. Convert addendum sites –before January 2014. Correctional sites, YDCs, YCAs and Job Corps will remain paper-based until new assessment in January 2014. Correctional trial in the Fall. Consistent billing for annual contracts. Most policies and procedures for paper-based testing will remain same. Regional paper-based testing centers in 2013. To maintain paper-based testing center through end of 2013, requires a minimum of a GED Chief Examiner, secure area to store test booklets and an office to house the PASSPORT computer and scanner.

3 Why Transition to CBT? 2002 Test Series will expire on December 31, 2013. New fully computer-based GED assessment will be released on January 2, 2014. More info: Transition will ensure that the state’s GED testing capacity is maintained in 2014 and eventually increased.

6 General CBT Info CBT is available to all eligible GED test-takers.

7 CBT changes 18 & 19 year olds will NOT be required to provide proof of official withdrawal. No more waiting periods between retesting. CBT test-takers can log into account at to view unofficial scores. Adult education teachers will not be permitted to become PV GED test administrators in Georgia.

8 CBT Registration 16 & 17 Year Olds
Register at or EXAM GED, but will NOT be able to schedule tests. • Referred to testing centers. Scenario 1 Approved examiner can verify prior approval via PASSPORT. Test Center faxes CBT-G24 form (CBT Request for Approval of 16 & 17 Year Olds) to GaGTP at (404) Approved by GaGTP , test-taker receives to schedule tests.

Scenario 2 Prior approval cannot be verified via PASSPORT by an approved examiner. Test-taker referred to state-approved adult education program, where they must: Provide proof of official withdrawal. Complete underage youth application. Complete minimum of 12 hours of classroom instruction. Achieve a minimum overall average score of 500 on the Official GED®Practice Test. Pre-testing requirements are met, adult education program forwards completed underage youth application to test center Test Center faxes CBT-G24 form (CBT Request for Approval of 16 & 17 Year Olds) to GaGTP at (404) Approved by GaGTP, test-taker receives to schedule test.

10 Pricing and Compensation
July 1, 2012 –GED testing fee increased from $19 per subject-area test to $32 per subject-area test. Effective July 1, 2012, Official GED Testing Centers(paper-based testing) will retain $17 per subject-area test. Pearson VUE Testing Centers (PVTCs) delivering GED tests receive $5 per appointment hour, including appointments for no-show test-takers.

11 Vouchers Vouchers are basically coupon codes
Test Centers and other organizations must apply and be approved for credit through Pearson VUE in order to receive the vouchers/ coupon codes. Three types of credit available (takes approx. 1 day for credit) Test Delivery (PVTCs only) Voucher Purchases for PVTCs Voucher Purchases for Non-PVTCs. Current discounts available –100%, 75%, 50% & 25%. Available per test or per battery (all 5 tests). GaGTP can establish different amounts if needed.

12 Vouchers – cont. CREDIT FOR TEST DELIVERY (PVTCs ONLY)
“Pay-per-use” model reduces liability for a PVTC. PVTC applies for credit to “charge” the monetary discount applied when the tests are scheduled at the PVTC. Test-taker completes registration questions at or EXAM GED, BUT Test-taker visits PVTC to schedule tests. TA logs into PV system, schedule tests for test-taker, and selects the VUE credit terms payment option. Depending on discount applied –100%, 50%, etc –test-taker may need to pay for difference using a debit or credit card. Credit Application: “ Credit App PVTC”

13 Vouchers – cont. CREDIT FOR VOUCHER PURCHASES (PVTC)
PVTC applies for credit to purchase pre-paid vouchers through the PV Voucher Store. Each voucher is a distinct code –ex: ABC123, XYZ456, etc. Valid for 1 year (do not get refund for unused vouchers). PVTC billed monthly for vouchers purchased previous month. Credit Application: “ Voucher RevolvTemp”

Organizations apply for credit to purchase pre-paid vouchers through the PV Voucher Store (CLCPs, Rotary, Job Corps, etc). Each voucher is a distinct code –ex: ABC123, XYZ456,etc. Valid for 1 year (do not get refund for unused vouchers). Organization billed monthly for vouchers purchased previous month. Credit Application: “ Voucher RevolvnonPVTC”

15 AT&T Scholarship Criteria
The Technical College System of Georgia, Office of Adult Education (OAE) AT&T GED Testing Fee Scholarship is a $65 award to GED test-takers who meet the following requirements: The potential GED test-taker must be a Georgia resident. The potential GED test-taker must be a first-time test-taker. The potential GED test-taker must spend a minimum of forty (40) hours in state-approved adult education classes. The potential GED test-taker must take the TABE pre- and post-tests. The potential GED test-taker must score a minimum overall average standard score of 500 on the Official GED Practice Test and no lower than 450 on each subtest. When this form is approved, a voucher code will be assigned and the form will be faxed to the adult education program. The voucher code maybe used up to five (5) times, once for each subject area test, and will discount each subject area test by $13. The voucher code must be available when scheduling each test.

Final GED graduate numbers. Beginning Fall of 2012, TCSG will begin to collect the historical scores from each test center. New graduation ring almost ready to be released to the public (image next slide).
