Figure 1 Sagittal intensity modulated radiation therapy planning image of a patient with head and neck squamous carcinoma of the larynx with extension to a single level II lymph node. In this instance, the gross disease is contoured in red, the intermediate risk dose in blue, and the standard risk dose in yellow. The intermediate risk dose is contoured solely to a defined margin above and below the gross disease within the lymph node, whereas the standard risk dose is used to treat the remaining surrounding tissue.
