19 19 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program 4-6 Months American scholars work with Thai higher institutions in any fields Institutions must directly contact with scholars and ask them to apply with Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES)

20 20 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures In-country Travel Program If you would like to invite a Fulbright scholar is working in Thailand for being a guest speaker or lecturing in a short period at your institution Your institution will be responsible for domestic transportation and other expenses would be occurred

Humphrey Fellowship Program Non-degree program for mid-career professionals in Thai government and private organizations (currently employed by national, local or regional government units or universities or by private sector organizations with assurances of re-employment upon return) One year of non-degree study and practical work-related experience in the U.S. institutions Financial provision: Monthly maintenance allowance (US$1,300-1,900), book and supplies allowance, tuition and fees, round-trip international travel to host institution and special domestic travel to Washington D.C. for a special seminar, field trips, and conference fees

24 24 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Eligibility for Applicants Thai citizen in good health years of age Have at least B (3.00) of undergraduate or good academic record of graduate level, if possessing a degree from the U.S., should have returned to Thailand for at least 7 years after the receipt of the degree Be in Thailand at the time of interview Have an outstanding record of professional accomplishments and leadership qualities Have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public service, in public or private sector organizations and agencies (an applicant should be in policy rather than research and technically oriented)

27 27 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Thai Visiting Scholar Program Offer grants to senior Thai scholars to lecture, pursue research or undertake special academic- related projects in the U.S. institutions Grant Period : 3-6 months Prefer to topics focus upon Thailand-U.S. relationship in political, economic, trade, legal, cultural, or educational affairs Application : June – mid-September

28 28 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Eligibility of Appl i cants Thai citizen in good health ( not holding two country visas ) Physically present in Thailand at the time of interview have a doctorate degree in academic background with strong knowledge of English have at least 10 years of professional experiences at the university level (excluding period of study) be able to take leave from his/her home institution preferably not have had extensive experience in the U.S. during the previous 3 years be willing and able to serve as a resource person in the U.S.

29 29 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Benefits Round-trip international travel Monthly stipend (US$2, ,900) Professional allowance Settling-in allowance (US$150) Health insurance Additional allowance (US$ per month) for qualified dependents who accompany the scholar for at least 80 percent of the grant period. 32 32 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Fulbright Junior Research Scholarship Program Aim to develop the capabilities of Thai university staff members to gain 6 months of research experience in the U.S. as part of their doctoral dissertation requirements 2 grants under Fulbright – round-trip international airfare, monthly stipend, books and supplies allowance, and excess baggage allowance 5 grants under Thailand Research Fund (TRF) – full financial support (not university lecturers) Application : June – Mid September

33 33 Inspiring Caring Leaders Across Cultures Eligibility of Applicants Thai citizen in good health ( not holding two country visas ) Be a university staff member at a tertiary level institution who is undertaking graduate work at Ph.D. level in a Thai university (applicable for the two awards under the Fulbright program) Be recommended by his/her employer for consideration Demonstrate strong academic performance at the graduate level Have appropriate background to undertake the proposal they have outlined Have the concurrence of the university Ph.D. program in which he/she is enrolled
