Why Firstborn? Ex 4:22 Then say to Pharaoh, This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son,… Ex 13:12 "Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether man or animal." Deut 21:17 …firstborn by giving him a double share of all he has. 1 Chron 5:2 … and though Judah was the strongest of his brothers and a ruler came from him, the rights of the firstborn belonged to Joseph

Jesus and Passover Passover –John 13:1 It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father.

Sacrificial system (central in their religious life) –Leviticus 4:13-15 If the whole Israelite community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD's commands … the assembly must bring a young bull as a sin offering… The elders of the community are to lay their hands on the bull's head before the Lord, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord.

1.What is Gods provision for our problem of sin and separation from him here and now? 1 John 2: 1-2 … if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. What about us (me)?
