Mindful of the fact that while many people have a mild interest in sport, but are not obsessed by it, in 2010 Sky launched A League of Their Own. This show was (to paraphrase Give Us A Clue) the antidote to TV sports shows, offering a mild interest in sport with a heavy dose of comedy and just a touch of quiz show. Roll forward to 2013 and the TV is filled with a plethora of cooking programmes. Some eat to live while others live to eat, but it is one thing that everybody has in common. Not all of us cook and while some find in interesting, some do it out of obligation, some need help and many resort to a take- away whenever possible. So what about a programme about food that isnt a tutorial? ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication

Suggested Format The compare ( is James Corden looking for work or maybe Nigella? ) Two Teams (each comprising of) 1 x Comic (Captain) on contract for the show. 1 x Sports Person / Food Scientist. 1 x Celebrity Guest Chef. This may seem an unusual combination, but in order For the programme to be entertaining and also subliminally educational it should be able to present the occasional nugget of sound nutritional advice. Encourage anecdotes like before I swim the channel I always eat pickled herring because.... ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication
Suggested Format Some questions (worth 2 points) should initially only be directed at the non chefs. These may include such technical questions as: What is the difference between a Ceviche, a Sushi and a Tartare? What foods are associated with Dame Nellie Melba (name 3)? Was Coronation Chicken invented by Ena Sharples? Pound for pound, which has more calories? Rice, Pasta or Potatoes? Is Heston Blumenthal associated with: the Spruce Goose, the Fat Duck or the Flying Truck? If the question cannot be answered, it should be passed to the chef for one point only. ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication
Suggested Format In the 2 nd round the chef assembles pre-prepared food onto a plate in an suitably artistic manner to show how it should be presented. Then their teammates try to emulate this (good game, good game). A similar task is repeated later in the show by the other team. Points are awarded by the compare. ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication
Suggested Format In the 3 rd round the chefs go head to head. They both have to show us a quick kitchen trick, either the same task against the clock e.g. peeling and dicing 3 strong onions, or showing a novel and efficient way of performing a routine task e.g. preparing an avocado pear. In the straight task against the clock the fastest wins subject to the result meeting the approval of The compare. In different tasks scenario, ask the studio audience to decide. ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication
Suggested Format In the penultimate round the teams are asked to identify unusual kitchen implements from history and around the world. A simple two points for each sample identified correctly and ad-hoc points for amusing suggestions. ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication
Suggested Format In the last round the teams are blindfolded and offered samples and have to identify what they are eating or drinking. A simple two points for each sample identified correctly, and one point for identifying components of the recipe. ©2013 Buzzmark Entertainment All copyrights acknowledged – not for commercial publication
