Plies Working to embody - Suspension A suspension is a prolonged high point. It is created at the peak of the movement by continuing the movement and delaying the takeover of gravity.
Tendues from 1 st position Working to embody - Weight Weight is added by isolating a part of the body allowing it to succumb to gravity while maintaining suspensions, oppositions and high points with the rest of the body.
Tendu from 5 th position Working to embody - Isolation Isolation of one body part to increase freedom, and flow in another part of the body.
Degage Working to embody – Succession Succession is the sequential path of movement through the parts of the body.
Ronds de Jambe Working to embody a consistent use of breath to create moments of suspension. A suspension is a prolonged high point. It is created at the peak of the movement by continuing the movement and delaying the takeover of gravity.
Frappe Working to embody- Isolation and Opposition Opposition is a way of using the entire body to create the feeling of length and stretch in a movement, without tensing or gripping (shortening) the muscles.
Adage Working to embody – Rebound and Recovery The end result of recovery and rebound it the same – the potential energy released in a fall is accumulated at the bottom of the fall and rechanneled. It incorporates and elastic reaction of the muscles.

Allegro Working to embody Kinetic and Potential Energy Energy is the capacity of the body to move, and potential energy is that capacity in its unreleased state – the threshold of movement. Kinetic energy is the potential energy in motion.
