ABOUT BRITWEEK BritWeek is a non-profit organization, started in Los Angeles in 2007 by Nigel Lythgoe and the then Consul General Bob Peirce, to highlight the creative fusion between the United Kingdom and the US. Every spring BritWeek hosts a program of events that promotes British creativity, innovation and excellence across multiple categories including, film & television, music, art, fashion, design, retail, sport, philanthropy, business, and more. Along with BritWeek Los Angeles, BritWeek has launched programs in Orange County, San Francisco, and Miami. BritWeek's philanthropic contributions have included fundraising for Malaria No More, Save the Children, LAs BEST, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and programs promoting childrens sports, children's literacy and international professional internships.
THE BRITWEEK AUDIENCE A whos who of industry power brokers joined international luminaries – Los Angeles Times BritWeek events attract an international, affluent crowd of celebrities, dignitaries, and professionals. BRITWEEK OVERVIEW Half a Billion & Growing The number of media impressions for BritWeek 2013. BritWeek received substantial coverage in the UK and US in print, radio, television, and online. Most notably, BritWeek was featured on American Idol, E!, ITV, LA Times, Yahoo, NBC Los Angeles, and more. Over 52 The total number of BritWeek partners and sponsors in 2013 including Jaguar, Wedgwood, Boots, Christopher Guy, Virgin Atlantic, BBC Worldwide Productions, and many more. 46 The number of BritWeek events held over BritWeek Los Angeles 2013. $1,600,000 The amount of money BritWeek has raised for various charities since its inception. Beneficiaries have included Malaria no More, Save the Children, LAs BEST and many more. Over 150,000 The number of people that came to the many BritWeek 2013 events – from our signature red carpet events to our public festivals.
BritWeeks exciting Red Carpet Launch party kicks off the BritWeek Los Angeles program and attracts a number of celebrities, VIPs, politicians and dignitaries. The red carpet ensures photos of the stars are blasted all around the globe and hitting computers and newsstands within hours. The event is held at a private residence in Hancock Park for 350+ invitation-only VIP guests and celebrities, as well as members of the press. This event receives million of media impressions.
BritWeeks annual charity reception is a lively and prestigious event attended by 500 leaders in business, culture, politics, and media, as well as influential British talent. This event also has a star-studded red carpet and receives significant press coverage. Celebrities and VIPs are invited to attend an exclusive VIP reception before the main event. BritWeek supports a different charity every year. Previous partners have included LA Childrens Hospital, LAs BEST, Malaria No More, and others. (2013 honored Downton Abbey, pictured right)

BRITWEEK UKTI BUSINESS INNOVATION AWARDS BritWeeks UKTI Business Innovation Awards offers the opportunity to discover and recognize the most innovative UK and California companies in five key categories: Technology, Service, Design, Philanthropy, and Marketing & Communications An audience of 250 investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and press gathers at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel for this evening of business networking and entertainment.
BRITWEEK UKTI BUSINESS INNOVATION AWARDS Current judges include creativity guru Sir Ken Robinson, Jaguar Cars Design Director Ian Callum, Disney Chairman Andy Bird, and Fox LA Co-Anchor Carlos Amezcua. In 2013, this sold-out event had a record number of nominations! Winners included: Arup North America Ltd. (Design), Aventyn (Service Provision), Calhoun Vision Inc. (Technology), Films Without Borders (Philanthropy), and Pusher LLC (Marketing & Communications). A different special guest speaker every year - 2014 speaker to be announced soon.
The BritWeek Christopher Guy Design Icon Award Reception celebrates British design across interior design, fashion, technology, engineering, and more, and honors an icon in British design. In 2013, we honored Director of Design for Jaguar, Ian Callum, and also showcased the fashion designs of Dita Von Teese with the designer herself present. The 2014 Design Icon recipient to be announced soon.
The award ceremony and cocktail party is attended by over 400 VIPs, high net worth individuals, press, and prominent design professionals from across California, including leaders in fashion, architecture, interior design, and more BRITWEEK CHRISTOPHER GUY DESIGN ICON AWARD
BRITWEEK SANTA MONICA FESTIVAL Now in its second year, Downtown Santa Monica & BritWeek will once again take over 3 blocks on the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place on May 3 & 4 to host a two-day festival celebrating everything British. In 2013, this event attracted 120,000+ people, and engaged the community, visitors, and one of the largest British ex-pat communities on the West Coast! Brands involved in 2013 included Walkers Shortbread, Madame Tussauds, Jaguar, Boots, Jamie Olivers Food Revolution, and more!
BRITWEEK SANTA MONICA FESTIVAL The 2014 festival will celebrate 450 years of William Shakespeare, with exciting events celebrating the life and work of this famous British playwright. This special event will also once again feature exciting displays and interactive elements all along the Third Street Promenade, as well as theatre, comedy, musical, and dance performances. The Third Street Promenade exposes brands and talent to thousands of individuals, including both a strong visitor market and local community.

BRITWEEK PROMOTION The BritWalk Map is circulated all over the city and a great way to advertise your business or brand to a wide audience. Over 200,000 maps are distributed throughout Los Angeles, through the LA Times, British retailers, hotels, & restaurants, BritWeek events, and BritWeek partners. A new addition to BritWeek, the 32 page glossy BritWeek Magazine had exciting interviews with British celebrities, musicians, and up-and-coming bands; articles on major trends within interior design, beauty, and more; and information on the full BritWeek program!
