BTEC First in Retail- Fashion Retailing - 7.2.5 Global Fashion When fashion designers create a new design for a garment they may be influenced by many different factors. They may look to the past or they may be inspired by their travels. The world has become a smaller place in recent years; people are travelling further for their holidays. Different cultures and ethnic groups bring their own style and fashions to be integrated into the community.

The designer Vivienne Westwood has stated that she has been inspired by the collections in the Victoria & Albert Museum: Many museums feature collections that show how designers have been influenced in different ways.
