5 The Hutto Recycling Center is located at the entrance to the Williamson County Landfill on F.M. 1660 Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday: 7 a.m. – noon Sunday: Closed (512) 846-2756 In 2010 recycling services expanded to accept batteries, fluorescent light bulbs and paint Number of monthly visitors increased from just 65 in the first month of operation to a steady stream of 500-600 visitors each month. 8 After the holidays, residents can drop off their Christmas trees at the Williamson County Landfill to be recycled. WM also recycles brush by chipping it into mulch. Mulch & Brush Recycling The mulch created from the trees and brush is then offered to County residents free of charge.

11 Daily litter pickup on RM 1660 and surrounding County roads. Every summer, Waste Management Partners with Texas Department of Transportations Dont Mess with Texas Campaign to prevent accidental litter by reminding drivers to cover their load. The information was made available in Spanish & English. Landfill - Litter Prevention

12 Landfill - Site Development On June 8 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. an open house at the Hutto Middle School was held to review the proposed Master Site Development and Recycling Plans.

14 Distributed 3 newsletters in 2010 to neighbors. Updated community brochure to a post card. Participated in Williamson Countys Brown Santa event. Participated in local golf tournaments to help community organizations such as the Hutto Athletic Booster Club and the Hutto Lions Club. Community Engagement

15 During Earth Day, Waste Management made presentations to schools to discuss the importance of recycling and reducing waste. WM was on the Communications Committee of Hutto Education Foundation and attended the annual gala. WM regularly gives tours of the landfill to Hutto students on field trips. Children learn about the importance of recycling, waste reduction & responsible waste management. Community Engagement

16 In 2010, Waste Management donated more than $12,000 to Hutto non-profits including: – Hutto Youth Football & Cheer Association – WBC Opportunities Head Start Program – Hutto Athletic Booster Club – Williamson County Symphony Orchestra – Hutto Community Food Pantry – Ray Elementary School – Nadine Johnson Elementary School – Hutto Cemetery Association – Brown Santa – Hutto High School Since 2005, WM has donated more than $80,000 to Hutto non-profits Community Donations

17 Waste Management provides tours to Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and other groups also. WM regularly participates in Career Day events throughout the district- Math and Science are a key focus. Community Education WM also provides presentations to adult organizations, such as the Mayors luncheon held in Cedar Park- all cities within Williamson County are regularly informed about landfill & recycling center activities.

18 Waste Management is helping Veterans' Hill Elementary School build an outdoor classroom and has donated $1,000 and other in-kind services to support the project. Community Community Education

19 In 2010, Waste Management re-joined the Hutto Chamber of Commerce as a Gold Member and proudly displays its honorary Hippo at the Gatehouse entrance. WM is an active member and attends luncheons, dinners, festivals and meetings put on by the Chamber. Community - Hutto Chamber

20 Landfill Manager Jason Kjar is an ex-officio member. Actively participates in clean ups and other events. Waste Management has provided in-kind support and services to help clean up some overgrown property located in Old Town Hutto to help KHB create a community garden. Community - Keep Hutto Beautiful
