1. Move any numbers (anything without x) over to the right side. 2. Split the b term in half. This number goes in the parentheses. 3.Square the answer you just got. Add that amount to the right side. (This is the amount of tiles you would have added to complete the square.) 4.Finish by putting the problem in perfect square form. 5.Solve by undoing.
