2 What Made Gary Paulsen Famous? Some things that made Gary Paulsen famous were all the great books he wrote. He has written over 175 books. He also became famous because of three books he wrote which were Hatchet, Dogsong, and The Winter Room. These three books were all Newbery Honor book. The first book he ever wrote called Some Birds Dont Fly, really increased his popularity. So that is how Gary Paulsen and his books he wrote made him famous.

4 How does Gary Paulsen come up with great books? Gary Paulsen gets most of his inspiration from his childhood to write these great books. Gary Paulsens childhood was very rough. His parents did not take good care of him and he got bullied on the streets a lot. At age 14 he ran away from home. In the book I read, I learned how hard his life was when he was little and how his love of dogs helped him out. The dogs that he meet had a big impact on his life, so I could see how his relationship with dogs help him in life and that is how he writes those great stories.
