3 Retiree ID Card Categories Red Card (Reserve Retiree) – Retirement order or NGB Form 22 – Has not reached age 60 – Reserve Retiree (Gray Area) – Dependents of Reserve Retirees Renewal – Retiree at age 60 – Dependent every 4 years

4 Retiree ID Card Categories Blue Card (Full Retiree – with pay) – Must be age 60 – Retirement order You are now placed on the retired list effective (on 60 th birthday) – INDEF on front / expiration on back – Renew On 65 th birthday and receiving Medicare Expiration on back replaced with INDEF

5 Retiree ID Card Categories Tan Card – Dependents of Retirees with blue ID card – Expiration date on front and back – Must renew Every 4 years On 65 th birthday – Expiration replaced with INDEF When receiving Medicare before age of 65 If over the age of 75

6 Dependent Children Over age of 21 Ages 21-23 Sponsor must provide 50% or more of dependents support Must be a full-time student Must be unmarried

7 Dependent Children Attending an accredited institution of higher learning Working toward associates degree or higher One school – cannot combine schools Requires letter from – School registrars office or the National Student Clearinghouse – Include expected date of graduation

8 Dependent Children Tricare Young Adult (TYA) Program Extends dependent childrens medical coverage Premium based Eligibility Ages 21-26 Sponsor eligible for Tricare or Tricare Retired Reserve Dependent child not uniformed service member Must be unmarried

9 Dependent Children Incapacitated Child over age 21 Incapacitated prior to the childs 21 st birthday Sponsor must provide 50% or more of dependents support Dependency statement – Required from sponsors parent service – Received through DFAS – ID renewal requires new dependency statement Child must be unmarried

10 Former Spouse 20-20-20 Rule Married to sponsor 20 years Sponsor must have 20 years of creditable service Overlap of marriage and service 20 years Must not have remarried Is not enrolled in an employer-sponsored health plan Benefits Medical Commissary, Exchange, and MWR

11 Former Spouse 20-20-15 Rule Married to sponsor 20 years Sponsor must have 20 years of creditable service Overlap of marriage and service 15 years Must not have remarried Is not enrolled in an employer-sponsored health plan Benefits Eligible for one year of medical care

12 Required DEERS Updates Family status changes required within 30 days Change in marital status Death of family member / sponsor Change in dependent children status – Child marries – Child enlists into the military – Newborn of sponsor

13 Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) Premium-based health plan Reserve retirees (Red ID Card) Eligible dependents (Red ID Card) Must have a Beneficiary Web Enrollment log- on

14 Acceptable Forms of Identification All forms of identification must be valid and not expired Primary Forms of ID (government issued w/ picture) – Military ID – Drivers license – State Issued ID – Passport – U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services Card Secondary Forms of ID – Social Security Card – Certified Birth Certificate – Current Student ID – Veterans Affairs Card
