feup: engineering beyond
feup: identity more than 80 years of history: Faculdade de Engenharia is the largest school of Universidade do Porto, and has significant autonomy; since 2000, feup has moved to a brand new campus, just outside the city centre, in eastern Porto, PORTUGAL.
feup: identity we put our money where our knowledge is: a m² campus, with excellent infrastructures. The campus conveys a 8-floor library with 500 reading spots and work cabinets, 9 departments, 25 computer rooms equipped with 500 computers, among other facilities and class rooms
feup: identity our heart & soul: feup holds up to students and 432 teachers distributed by 9 different departments: Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical, Informatics, Materials and Metallurgy, Mining, Chemical Engineering and Physics.
feup: education knowledge is our business: feup has adapted its courses to Bologna and currently offers a solid project of graduate and postgraduate education : 3 undergraduate courses (1 st Cycle), 2 of which are in cooperation 9 integrated master in engineering (1 st + 2 nd Cyles) 8 MSc programmes (2 nd Cycle) 18 PhD programmes (3 rd Cycle)

and we mean it: our excellence is proven by the excellent rate of employment (nearly half of graduate students are recruited before even finishing their studies). feup: performance Results from 2008 Employment Survey
feup: facts & figures Academic community full time teaching and research staff: 432 (77% Doctorate) administrative and technical staff: 231 (800 other contracts) undergraduate students (1st and 1st+2nd Cycle): 5844 master and doctorate students (2nd and 3rd Cycle): Scientific production 284 scientific articles (17% UP Publications) 61 active or pending patents and brands 24 spin-offs
feup: feel good experience feup: studying in feup gives the opportunity to develop academic skills, to take your know how to a higher ground, but it also allows you to have a complete, diverse and rich life on campus, through sports, cultural and leisure activities.
feup: insight engineering 101: right from the start, our programs promote hands-on activities, multidisciplinary projects, where students can experience real engineering problems, develop an acute sense of responsibility and feel part of a team.

feup: going global feup has been a proud partner of several top, world class, education institutions to offer innovative postgraduate courses:
feup: going global FEUP is also member of CESAER - the Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research - a non-profit-making international association of 60 leading European Engineering Universities, Colleges and Schools. Education: 150 active agreements in 52 countries Research: 160 active partnerships in 43 countries
ERASMUS MOBILITY feup: going global

feup: exchange students INFORMATION: DEADLINES TO APPLY There are two deadlines for the reception of the Application Forms (including Learning Agreement), concerning the starting period of studies: - 1st semester (or whole Academic Year) – until 15th June - 2nd semester – until 30th November
feup: exchange students PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE COURSE The Faculty of Engineering organizes a free Portuguese language courses addressed to all foreign citizens who are going to study at this Faculty (mobility students, as ERASMUS, or regular foreign students at graduate and post-graduate level). On the 1st semester, Level I and Level II On the 2nd semester, only Level I Number of places: for each Level at the maximum 20 students NOTE: In case of many applications, it will be given priority to the ERASMUS students. Duration: 60 hours for each Level
feup: exchange students ACCOMMODATION – University Halls of Residence The accommodation in the University Halls of Residence is not managed at Faculty level, but at central level, by the central International Office (SRI) for the (whole) University of Porto. The SRI is responsible for managing the vacancies that are available for the exchange, but they are very scarce considering the needs arising from the increase of incoming flows. Requests are processed on a "first-come, first-served" basis, after their acceptance by the respective Faculty. In the Application Form (page 4) the student can indicate if he wants to apply for a place at the University Halls of Residence.
feup: exchange students ACCOMMODATION – Private Rooms/Apartments The International Office also seeks to provide students with information of accommodation at private houses, all over the city. To that purpose, the office manages an up-to-date database with contact details offering flats, houses and rooms for rent. Students may establish direct contact with several accommodation offers and therefore select the opportunities that suit them most. FEUP Students Association – they have a list of private rooms/apartments and they help the students in the contacts with the landlords.
feup: exchange students INTEGRATION – Groups of students ESN – Erasmus Student Network BEST – Board of European Students of Technology They designate a tutor for the ERASMUS students FEUP Students Association
