A model of the interaction between aldosterone, natriuretic peptides, and hypertension. Relative natriuretic peptide deficiency results in less inhibition of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Consequently, aldosterone levels increase, leading to higher blood pressure. ANP = atrial natriuretic peptide.
