2 What is hard news? Hard news is news that is important and needs to be known immediately. Hard news topics include: war, economy, politics, and

3 What is soft news? Soft news is news that is light in nature and it usually does not matter when this type of news is broadcast or printed. Topics for this type of news include lifestyle, fashion, entertainment, celebrity gossip, and exposés on politicians lives. Soft news is often sensationalized.
