The Ikaalinen of today has an area of 843 km2 (of which 93 km2 is water) and the population is 7400. The centre of Ikaalinen is on the beautiful lake Kyrösjärvi nearby Highway 3. Ikaalinen is an old tourist attraction in Finland. Its spa tradition dates back to the last century and folk music, especially accordion music is one of its traditions. Its beautiful landscape has always fascinated visitors. Ikaalinen is also known from its multiple educational facilities.
In Finland there are basically three channels which broadcast TV-news: YLE, Mtv3 and Nelonen. A normal newscast includes the most essential news of the day. Average length of a newscast in Finland is approximately 20 minutes. In addition there are weather forecast and the sportscast. The most viewed news broadcast is YLE-news at 8.30 pm.
Domestic affairs - Finnair airlines techinicians went on strike. This could have forestalled the maintenance of the planes. - The Swedish Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were on a visit to Finland. They stayed for a couple of days and visited i.a. the President of Finland, the city of Lahti and Kittilä. - The Fair Trade –products favour in Finland is the fourth highest in the world with respect to population.
Foreign affairs - In Indonesia at least 300 people have now been confirmed as deceased due to the tsunami, and over 400 people are still missing - A bomb attack has been performed in Istanbul, Yemen. The target of the raid was a group of policemen and their bus. - In Malmö, Sweden, there has been several shooting episodes against random immigrants. According to the police of Sweden behind all this is an unknown single person.
