Why Do We Need Decimals? Money: One dollar and thirty two cents is the same thing as Distance: Exactly how many miles is it from your house to school? (You couldnt say without decimals!)

Adding Decimals is easy if you keep your work neat! Step 1: Line up the decimal points! Write zeros as place holders, if necessary
Step 2 Step 2: Add the hundredths. Regroup if necessary
Step 3 Step 3: Add the tenths. Regroup if necessary
Step 4 Step 4: Add the ones, then the tens. Place the decimal point! = 84.68
