Figure 1 Representative immunohistochemical analysis of molecular marker panel shows p53 and Ki-67 (A), and stathmin, cytoplasmic tau and nuclear tau (B) differential protein expression patterns in nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer tissue, including negative and positive cases. Scale bar indicates 100 μm. The Journal of Urology , DOI: ( /j.juro ) Copyright © 2011 American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc. Terms and Conditions

Figure 2 Association of tau and stathmin protein expression, including representative cases negative and positive for tau and for stathmin (A). Microtubule associated proteins were up-regulated in relapsed tumors treated with intravesical taxane (B). Representative immunohistochemical analysis of nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer tissues before taxane therapy and after taxane at relapse reveals increased stathmin and tau protein expression. Scale bar indicates 100 μm. The Journal of Urology , DOI: ( /j.juro ) Copyright © 2011 American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc. Terms and Conditions

Figure 3 Kaplan-Meier survival curves of tau and stathmin protein expression in patients with nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer treated with intravesical taxane demonstrate that expression was associated with RFS. Patients with high tau were at higher risk for relapse than those with low tau tumors (p <0.0001). Patients with high stathmin had significantly shorter time to recurrence than those who had tumors with low stathmin (p = 0.007).
