House-wide conversion including Auto-ID and Authorized User enabled in October 2008 Initially met resistance about scanning the clinician ID badge to unlock the panel Continue to see the use of the tamper-resistant switch or nonsense entering of numbers

1. Patient 2. Clinician Manual entry is an option however discouraged Keypad re-locks if no activity on keypad for 5 minutes Tamper resistance switch in back of pump

3. Medication EPIC 2-D barcode NDC Medications can still be manually selected from drug library within each profile 4. Without integration scanning must occur in both Epic® and Alaris®

We put everything in our library that runs on the pump (duration doesnt matter) However some entries do point to a couple of generic Fluids but at least the clinician has something to scan and profile specific settings are in place. We Do NOT do irrigations, dialysis, epidurals We only scan NDC barcodes on pre-made bags and fluids

Broken Equipment Hand held scanners cables and connection Disabling of scanning ability on Auto-ID module.

We are the Alpha site for EPIC/Alaris integration Alaris/Cerner has integrated at Childrens Minnesota EPIC/Hospira has integrated at Lancaster General We are in the very EARLY stages of testing Version 9.15 software from Alaris is needed for integration. Software upgrade requires a manual touch to each PCU/LVP/Syringe module. PCA will not be integrated

Subsequent bag workflow changed Time drift/sync issues
