WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution – Dynamic, Real-Time Web Pages InduSoft Application Multiplatform Servers and Web Thin Clients (WinNT/2K/XP and WinCE) High-performance data communication (send/receive data by events or change of values) Web Browser (Internet Explorer)

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution – What is the Web Thin Client Uses a regular WEB Browser (Internet Explorer) to host the application. Does not require the installation to the runtime software nor the application, remaining THIN as far as software installation is concerned. Requests online and history data from the Server where InduSoft Web Studio is running, becoming a CLIENT for the data. WEBTHINCLIENT

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution – Physical Layer InduSoft Web Studio Application Execution Web Server Internet (ISP) Internet Intranet Dial-Up

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution - Concept Develop the application just once and access the screens from the Server station or from any remote Web Thin Client during the runtime (any station or device with Internet Explorer). Visualize data from the Web Thin Client stations and send commands or change set-points from them (bi-directional communication). Do not worry about the resolution (auto screen scaling) or the operating system of the web thin client station (support to Windows CE up to Windows NT/2K/XP). Implement changes in the Server just once and make the changes available for all Web Thin Clients automatically (save maintenance cost).

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution - Redundancy Built-In Redundancy: Data Server Web Server IWS Web Gateway

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution - Tunneling Web Thin Clients can access the Server through the standard HTTP or HTTPS protocols, providing compatibility with firewalls. Support for SSL (Security Socket Layer) from Microsoft IIS Web Server. Embedded routing capabilities through the Studio Web Gateway for Microsoft IIS Web Server. Support for Secondary Server, increasing the reliability of the system – the Web Thin Client switches automatically to the Secondary Server when the Primary Server is not available. Compatibility with any platform supported by IWS or CEView. Studio TCP/IP (Port 1234) HTTP (Port 80)

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution - Security Traditional Features: Server controls the client access Data encryption (RC6) Enhanced Features: Support for standard firewall configuration (web tunneling) Support for HTTPS (SSL - Security Socket Layer) and routing capabilities

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution – Configuring a Web-based application 1. Develop the application locally and save the screens that must be available for the Web Thin Client into HTML format (File – Save as HTML menu ). 2. Open the Project Settings dialog (Project – Settings menu) and select the Web tab. 3. Configure the field Data Server IP Address with the IP address of the Data Server station (station where InduSoft Web Studio or CEView is running). 4. Open the Project Station dialog (Project – Status menu), select the Execution Tasks tab, and set the TCP/IP Server module as Startup=Automatic. 6. Open the application tags database and set the proper option (Server or Local) on the Web Data column. 7. Execute the Tools – Verify Application command to update the Project Settings in the HTML files (repeat this steps whenever you modify the project settings or the tags database). 8. Make sure that the Web Server is running and set its Home Directory (Web Root) to be the \Web subfolder of your application. 9. Execute the application in the Server station. 10. Using a browser (e.g.: Internet Explorer v6.0) in the Web Thin Client station, type the URL address to download the screen saved in HTML format (e.g.: http:// /.html).http:// /.html) The configuration for a Web-based application may vary according to each specific architecture. However, typically, you just need to follow the steps below:

WEB AND WIRELESS AUTOMATION connecting people and processes http://www.InduSoft.com info@InduSoft.com Web Solution – Important Notes The Data Server is the station where InduSoft Web Studio (or CEView) is running. For example, the Data Server is the station that provides data (values) to the Web Thin Client station. The TCP/IP Server module of InduSoft Web Studio (or CEView) must be running on the Data Server station, or the Web Thin Client cannot exchange data with the Data Server station. The Web Server is the station where the Web pages (files from the \Web subfolder) are stored. One HTTP Server driver (Web Server) must be running on this station, or the Web Thin Client cannot download the Web pages using HTTP. The Data Server and the Web Server can be the same station, but not necessarily. The TCP/IP Server module running on the Data Server uses the TCP/IP Port #1234 by default. The HTTP Server usually uses the TCP/IP Port #80 (reserved for the HTTP protocol). You can use the built-in Web Tunneling feature of IWS to encapsulate the Data Server protocol into the HTTP protocol. However, you have to make sure that the TCP port used by the Web Server (usually 80) is not blocked by the firewall (if any) between the Web Server and the Web Thin Client stations. The Web Thin Client and the Data Server exchange data (value) only for the tags configured on the screen open on the Browser. Also, the communication is by exception (value change) to optimize the performance and minimize the traffic in the network. Functions and expressions configured on the screen (e.g.: Command dynamics) are executed in the Web Thin Client too. Functions that must be executed in the Server only, must be configured in the Math or Scheduler modules.
