Figure 5 | Involvement of B cells in SLE. B cells are greatly influenced by the cytokine milieu and the type of T cell that derives from that cytokine milieu. In systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), B cells interact with T follicular helper (TFH) cells at the T cell–B cell interface in secondary lymphoid organs. The interaction revolves around engagement of cell-surface receptors and secretion of cytokines.
