NAVAJO CODE TALKER ASSOCIATIONAND THE YOUNG MARINES
$200 per Young Marine and adult leader includes: Transportation Hotel Accommodations Food Event T-Shirt Participation Certificate Unit Encampment and Gold Frame
In 1982 President Ronald Reagan declared August 14 th Navajo Code Talker Day. Every year since on August 14 th an event has taken place to give honor to the Navajo Code Talkers. The Young Marines started participating in 2006 and have attended every year since. In 2010 Navajo Code Talker Day became a National Holiday for the Navajo Nation. Each year it takes place on Aug. 14 th regardless of what day of the week it falls on.
Leaving from Mesa on Sunday Aug. 12 th at 14:00 Young Marines will be flying in to Colorado ride the buses with Colorado Units to Arizona. Colorado Units will drive through the night and arrive in Arizona in the early AM on Aug. 13th
Mountain View Young Marines have had the same driver for years and we get a discount for being a non-profit. Excellent company with an outstanding reputation and outstanding driving record. Transportation is the largest expense of the trip. Bus has nice padded seats as well as DVD players. It will depend on the number of Young Marines attending if we will be taking 2 buses or one and the sizes of the buses.
On bus, snacks and capri suns /water bottles Breakfast on Monday is cheap and easy normally muffins, or danishes Lunch Monday is chips and sandwiches Dinner is pizza Next morning large breakfast buffet Lunch at Navajo Code Talker Day catered by the association Dinner TBD Snacks on the trip Help is needed to coordinate meals, keep things on ice and with set up / clean up.
Same place every year. Quality Inn Window Rock, AZ on the Navajo Nation YM will be 4 per room or 1 adult and 2 /3 YMs. Senior Young Marines may act as room leaders for other Young Marines Youngest Young Marines / or Young Marines with medical issues will be in rooms with adult leaders Roll away beds for some rooms Clean rooms and a meeting location for meals and classes.

HIKE TO THE TOP OF WINDOW ROCKNAVAJO NATION MUSEUM Navajo Museum Library & Visitor's Center The modern Navajo Museum is located in Window Rock and is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich and unique culture of the Navajo Nation. Native displays, a book and gift shop, snack bar, auditorium, outdoor amphitheater, information kiosk. library and on-site authentic Navajo hogan complete the center.
Special Requests: Every unit bring their unit guidon for the parade. Drill demonstration Bugler or National Anthem by either a group or a single Young Marine. Special issues: Navajo Time Wild dogs Mixture of Young Marines from across the country Navajo cultures / traditions
Young Marines Cammies with ribbons following the newest guidelines for ribbon and awards placement. Sleeves up. Uniform should be inspection ready and male Young Marines should have fresh haircuts and be clean shaven. Adult Leaders Adult leaders will have a choice between cammies or kacki shorts / capris or slacks with the event t- shirt. Covers are strongly encouraged because of the sun. No digi cammies are authorized.
