3. Dogs are close cousins to wolves. Labrador Retrievers are known as great pets and their owners love them. They are very strong and stocky, so they need more food than most other dogs. Labs have chocolate- colored fur with a shiny coat. Labs like to run and swim. Labs are also good at hunting. Labs need a quiet place to rest. Labs are very, very smart. In World War II, they wore backpacks and carried secret messages to soldiers!

4. Beagles have short and hard fur. Their fur can be black, brown or white. Beagles make their families happy. Beagles hunt other animals like rabbits, birds and mice with their owners. They use their noses to hunt. Beagles hunt no matter what the weather is outside. Adults are about 13 inches tall. An average beagle can have up to 6 babies. Beagle puppies need 4 or 5 small meals a day to grow bigger and stronger. Beagles like to eat meat a lot. They need well balanced diets to stay healthy. They also need to exercise to stay healthy. Beagles need to get shots every single year. The shots help stop diseases.

5. These dogs have been around for more than 100 years. The coat of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is very silky. You should not cut their hair when you enter them in a contest. When they become adults, they are about 12 to 13 inches tall. People like to get Cavalier King Charles Spaniels because they are really loyal and keep their owners company. To care for these dogs, you should feed them a few times a day. Do not give them any fish, chicken or lamb bones because they may choke. These dogs live longer if they are kept inside more than outside. You need to have a quiet place for your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to have its babies. You should schedule an appointment for the vet once a year. The vet will help watch for MVD (Mitral Valve Disease), a heart problem.
