PBL How has weather contributed to poverty and hunger? Mrs. Ibarra 1 st Grade
What is weather? Weather is how it feels outside. What is the weather today?
Hurricane A hurricane is a big storm that comes for days. The storm brings a lot of rain, very violent winds.
How would it be if rained for days and days and everything flooded? What would happen to our toys that were outside? What would happen to out homes if the water went into out homes? What if the water flooded our homes? What would happen to all out stuff?
Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Katrina was a huge storm! It brought a lot of rain and made water from the ocean leak into the city. Many houses were flooded and thousands of people lots of lost everything they had!
Here are some pictures of what happens during a Hurricane
How does weather affect the lives of the people and animals? It is so dry and hot that people/animals do not have enough water. Crops (food grown to eat) are dried out by the hot hot sun.
How does the weather affect poverty and hunger? Because the crops are not growing, people who make money off of selling them become poor. The lack of water kills the animals that people eat like cows, chickens and pigs. Animals that are alive are usually not healthy enough to eat.
