3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Through the harnessing of its rich oil and gas reserves and the forging of smart partnerships with some of the world’s largest petroleum companies, Malaysia has established the ideal infrastructure to support a vibrant petrochemical industry. Today, investors benefit from the facilities that are already in place. Integrated petrochemical complexes offer centralised utilities, efficient storage services, and a comprehensive transportation network that help reduce capital and operational costs. Maintaining a reliability of the infrastructure setup on top of the World-class Production and Code & Standard imposed to the Exploration & Pipeline Facilities, PETRONAS CARIGALI SDN BHD took a step ahead approach in employing PHONON DIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY. In developing the project detail and to cater to the subsequent implementation of the service required, SKYPEARL (M) SDN BHD has established a cooperate alliances with their Principles is Russia called DIATECH (Russian Academy of Natural Science and production company) who is developing the Phonon Diagnostics Technology since the World War I. After much collaboration including a visit to the principles facility in Russia, Phonon Technology has been materialized in MALAYSIA for the first time and CARIGALI is proud to share value added technology among the PETRONAS subsidiaries.

4 PROJECT BRIEF CARIGALI is intended to carried out a thorough study on their pipelines to identify the integrity of the pipelines. This pipelines (varies in pipe diameter) installed to cater the operation between Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and their client Petronas Gas Berhad (Another PETRONAS subsidiary who involved with Gas Processing activity). This pipeline has been laid underground due to the road crossing. A set of standards has been implemented as a control mechanism to ensure the pipeline at all time is in good conditions. On top of Cathodic Protection System (CPS) installed to the pipeline to prolong its life span, a routine inspection need to be carried out at least once in every 16 months (Malaysian DOSH Requirements). Consideration to the excess restrictions (laid underground and road crossing), new diagnostic approach is required to cater a wide range of expected result. On top of that, its will be a cross measure to the current practices.

SCOPE OF WORK In general its has been derived to offer a complete diagnostic and to generate a adequate diagnostics report that covers; To Conduct Pipeline Mapping (Location) Drawing Actual Locations Of Underground Pipeline  To Conduct a Pipeline Integrity Study Remaining Wall Thickness Remaining Pipeline Life  To Identify Defects Location of Defects Type of defects Degree of Defects Find-out a propagation of capture defects (If any) To Conduct Stress Study Study on the road crossing possible failure ( Heavy Traffic Effect, Soil Defect; etc) To Survey the Possibility to overcome those defect Cathodic Protection System (CPS) Remaining Life Of CPS decay Propagation Of CPS Pipeline Welding Integrity Detail Joint Location The Integrity of Weldment at Each Joints To provide recommendation for repair. Pipeline Detail 12” Sch 80 Condensate Pipeline - 500mtrs length. 42” Sch 80 Gas Pipeline – 500mtrs length. 2” Sch 80 Gas Pipeline – 300 mtrs length. Pipeline Characteristics Underground piping with bitumen coating external. Working Temperature: 21 Deg Celsius Working Pressure : 70 Bar

11 THE INTELLIGENCE OF PHONON TECHNOLOGY
Phonon technology is a method to diagnose anything from a very small object to a very complex structure define within the regime of its techno-sphere system. Diagnostic fundamental is to measure the PHONON emission emitted during the interaction of the MATERIAL and ENERGY within its TECHNO-SPHERE. An object when subject to ENERGY (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) shall absorb the energy. The accumulated energy will agitate the techno-sphere (inter atomic link, the atomic and phonon structures) and develop stress to further result in material deformation. The value of PHONON emission is subjected to the degree of stress ( stress is the cause of material destruction). PHONON emission is than measured and the degree of material destruction is verified.

It can be done without plant shutdown or production interruption. No modification to the material during diagnostic. The operation parameters are maintained. No special assembly units (chambers) is required for sending and receiving signal devices. This technology is not limited to any condition such as variable internal diameter, valves malfunction, very complex construction, inaccessible places or bends All weather & Climatic Condition from -30 deg C to 50 deg C. For temperature up to 1500 deg C a special equipment must be used
