Generation Projects Green Power EMC Generating Projects

Rabun Gap Located in Rabun Gap (north GA) and began producing 16 MWs of electricity in 2010 from wood waste. Online since January, 2010.

Taylor County Methane Recovery Electric Generating Plant A landfill methane gas to electric generating station located at in Taylor County, Georgia. Initial generating capacity is 7.0 megawatts. Online since October 2003.

Wolf Creek Biomass Plant Located in Twiggs County landfill2.8 MW Began Operation Dec 2012

Tallassee Shoals Low Impact Hydro Project Located on the Middle Oconee River will begin producing 2.3 megawatts of electricity in 2005 from water. It is a certified facility by the Low Impact Hydro Institute. Online since April 2005.

Rooker Solar Located in Gwinnett County on rooftop of the Rooker Company producing 125 kw Online since September, 2010

Research and Development Program Wind Assessment Project Green Power EMCs have been testing the possibility of using wind power at the Rocky Mountain Pump Storage facility in Floyd County. The test site is located atop Oglethorpe Power Corporation's Rocky Mountain Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant in Floyd County, Ga.

Monitoring Project Green Power EMC contract in May 2005 with Airtricity for Rocky Mountain Site wind study Goal of study was to determine the feasibility of wind turbine installations at Rocky Mountain Meteorological Tower (Met Tower) erected July months of data reached in June 2007, provided basis for initial wind report - estimated long-term wind speed at a turbine hub height of 80 meters (260 feet) is 5.72 meters/second or 12.8 miles per hour Continue to search the turbine manufactures for a cost effective, low speed wind turbine that could be used at the site to yield a higher capacity factor Bottom line – This project is completed; for now wind is not an option in Georgia

Research and Development Program Sun Power for Schools educates students about renewable energy and its impact on the environment. We are partnering with local middle and high schools to install a 1 kW grid-tied photovoltaic system to harness the energy from the sun and provide on-line data monitoring to the classroom. This represents the first statewide academic program to showcase the benefits of solar energy. The first installation was at Irwin County High School on August 18, schools participate in this program
