First-Year Seminar Mission Statement The transition program strives to provide academic opportunities and preparation for the success of all first-year students.
First-Year Seminar Goal Statements 1.To give students the basic skills to succeed academically 2.To give students the opportunity to develop higher-level thinking and decision-making abilities 3.To increase the number of students staying in school until graduation 4.To increase the number of students participating in more rigorous academic courses
First-Year Seminar Objectives 1.To prepare students to perform successfully in reading across the curriculum 2.To prepare students to perform successfully in language arts across the curriculum 3.To prepare students to use a variety of study skills 4.To prepare students to use critical thinking and processing skills 5.To assist student development of school- appropriate social skills
