1 Conclusions: Parallel session 1, Group 3

2 Integrated assessments
There is general agreement that integration as shown in the spider plot makes sense There is need to select the most appropriate criteria for the assessment of ecosystem elements in the spider OSPAR/HELCOM experience can be used to inspire a realistic approach It is difficult to explicitly link ecosystem state and pressures Need to define assessment frequency as it could be different between assessment of ecosystem elements and pressures Pressure-impact-state matrix does not clarify/simplify integration of criteria Terminology is still confusing

3 Integration of descriptors and criteria
There are lists already used for assessments More important are selection criteria for the lists Strong need to understand links with HD, BD, CFP There are examples of indicators developed at RSCs ie birds. Will we use similar list approach for mammals, NIS? EUNIS classification for habitats is an avenue to pursue Agree to eliminate overlaps in criteria

4 GES boundaries There is a lot to discuss
GES boundary setting needs clarification GES boundaries seem to be a descriptor specific discussion than a cross cutting one
