31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 2 At the outset.. A Big Thank You for- Executive Director, PSWR for his constant reminder for this energy audit to happen.

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 3 Objective At PSWR (HQ), Nagpur Office Complex: To identify potential areas for energy saving. To minimize Energy Bill To suggest long term Energy Conservation Strategies to be adopted.

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 4 Exclusions The following are excluded : 5 th Floor SAS area Diesel Engine and its expenses Water related expenses.

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 5 BHEL,PSWR (HQ), Nagpur Office: Background Information Office Complex Opened in 1989 The lighting and Air Conditioning System has remained almost unchanged for the last twenty years. Occupancy has increased more than 100% thus increasing the load on the air conditioning system and energy consumption.

Technical Discussions 31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 19

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 20 Shot-Term Suggestions Areas Where immediate Improvement can take place : Power Factor Improvement Cooling Tower Improving the Indoor Air Quality

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 21 Power Factor Improvement Suggestion: Installation of Capacitance Bank along with Power factor Controller Approximate Cost: Rs 65000.00 Payback Period: Two Months

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 22 Cooling Tower Suggestion: Replacing the Water Cooed Air Conditioners with Air Cooled. This will make the cooling Tower Redundant. Approximate Cost: 4 x Rs175,000.00 that is Rs7.00 Lakhs Payback Period: Approximately 2 years

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 23 Indoor Air Quality Improvement Suggestion: Installation of Ozonizers This will Reduce CO2 concentration Reduce Fresh Air intake Reduce Energy Consumption

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 24 Long Term Suggestions This suggestions are in line with Recommendation of Meeting of BHELs Apex Committee on Energy Management Dated 31 st December 2009 1.Exploring installation of Grid Interactive Solar Power Unit on the rooftop 2.Replacing all the old Tube lights with CFL or LEDs. (The BHEL Board on the rooftop can be immediately changed to LED types.)

31/05/2014 Exploring Heights..................... Setting Standards.................... Marching Towards Excellence Power Sector Western Region 25 Thanks to…….. HR Department for providing us the required Data Shreem Capacitors Pvt. Limited for technical discussions on Power Factor Improvement Bluestar for technical discussion on Energy Audit of Air Conditioning system. Omniscient Treatment Technologies for indoor air quality measurement and suggestions.
