2 Connecting Themes/Enduring Understandings
Beliefs and Ideals: The beliefs and ideals of a society influence the social, political, and economic decisions of that society. Conflict and Change: When there is conflict between or within societies, change is the result.

3 Connecting Themes/Enduring Understandings
Conflict Resolution: Societies resolve conflicts through legal procedures, force, and/or compromise. Distribution of Power: Distribution of power in government is a product of existing documents and laws combined with contemporary values and beliefs.

Individuals, Groups, Institutions: The actions of individuals, groups, and/or institutions affect society through intended and unintended consequences. Location: Location affects a society’s economy, culture, and development.

Movement/Migration: The movement or migration of people and ideas affects all societies involved. Production, Distribution, Consumption: The production, distribution, and consumption of goods/services produced by the society are affected by the location, customs, beliefs, and laws of the society.

Rule of Law: In a democracy, rule of law influences the behavior of citizens, establishes procedures for making policies, and limits the power of government. Technological Innovation: Technological innovations have consequences, both intended and unintended, for society.

7 Beliefs and Ideals The beliefs and ideals of a society influence the social, political, and economic decisions of that society. Read the article and complete the 6 Cs document analysis.

8 Conflict and Change When there is conflict between or within societies, change is the result. Create a comic strip of at least 4 panels about a specific event within your life that demonstrates a conflict that led to a change. Each panel should include at least one text bubble.

9 Conflict Resolution Societies resolve conflicts through legal procedures, force, and/or compromise. What does conflict resolution mean? What is a conflict within your daily life that a resolution could help? What could be the outcome of a resolution of the conflict?

10 Distribution of Power Distribution of power in government is a product of existing documents and laws combined with contemporary values and beliefs. Read the article using Thinking Notes. Your purpose for reading is “How is power distributed in different forms of government?”

11 Individuals, Groups, Institutions
The actions of individuals, groups, and/or institutions affect society through intended and unintended consequences. Write an epitaph for a person that brought about change for society. Include their name, when they were born and died, what they are famous for, and what they are remembered for.

12 Location Location affects a society’s economy, culture, and development. Imagine you lived in the following locations.

The production, distribution, and consumption of goods/services produced by the society are affected by the location, customs, beliefs, and laws of the society. Define production, distribution, and consumption. Write a complete sentence correctly using each word.

17 Rule of Law In a democracy, rule of law influences the behavior of citizens, establishes procedures for making policies, and limits the power of government. While watching the video, complete the video analysis.

18 Technological Innovation
Technological innovations have consequences, both intended and unintended, for society. While watching the video, think about how technology has changed society. Select a technological innovation that you are familiar with and list the positive and negative impacts that it has had on society.
