In the subject with LDL pattern A, an increase in HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) from 0.85 to 1.03 mmol/L was accompanied by a shift in the HDL distribution toward the HDL2b and HDL2a subspecies. In the subject with LDL pattern B, HDL-C rose from 0.67 to only 0.72 mmol/L with no apparent shift in the HDL subclass distribution.
