Learner-centered has several characteristics that help prepare students for college and a career including: Rigorous instruction based on college and career ready expectations Personalized instruction Flexible instruction, with learning taking place anytime, anywhere Building collaborative learning structures and opportunities for students.

17 Standards Based Grading Relates teaching & learning to assessments and back again – full circle Gives meaning to learning – knowing exactly what was learned {especially not learned} Relates real-world to learning Gives stakeholders a sense of what is actually being learned and taught – connecting the two and bringing them together

18 Math assessments can be taken online. Scores are recorded and skills are tracked! Individual and classroom snapshot reports give more information to students, teacher, and parents.

19 Math assessments: Then vs. Now 80% score reported Skills learned reported Learned skills are tracked and students are able to see which skills they have mastered and which skills still need practice. No longer is an 80% good enough information to report. The skills learned or not learned need to be reported.
