Contd.…. Laboratory role is an important integral part of the treatment protocols in this technology Non compliance of Laboratory role shall be a handicap to the clinician Laboratory People are handicapped unless they are taught important clinical parameters Unless personnel is equipped with both Laboratory and Clinical knowledge implementation of protocols shall be incomplete Comprehensive Theory & Practical’s can make Clinicians/ Biologists more proficient in managing the problem
Contd.…. It is estimated that around 18 – 20 % of any population is infertile/ Sub fertile throughout the World. Male Infertility is on the rise over the past 5 decades, with a gradual decline in the Sperm Count. 40% of the infertility problems are male oriented and the remaining 60% accounts to female partner and several other disorders. More than 4 million babies are born globally through Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) The success rate of ART is around % globally. However, comparatively it is quite low in India because of untrained/ unqualified personnel involved in ART.
Contd.…. According to National data of Assisted Reproduction in India (NARI), , published by ISAR (The Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction), a large number of IVF pregnancies (more than 40% ) end up in miscarriages as compared to 5% in Western countries. At present, more than 500 IVF Centres (most of them private except AIIMS) are functioning in India and there are only around 100 qualified and well experienced Embryologists in our Country. To bridge the gap it is very much essential to provide the country a trained human resource through this innovative course

Response to this course has been encouraging with the University/ Academic bodies, IVF centers/ Gynecologists‘ all welcoming the idea to initiate such an innovative course in Traditional Universities which addresses Global and National priorities. The proposed course bridges the crucial gap between Clinicians and Biologists and will be instrumental in providing the trained manpower to combat the raising infertility problem in India. The most encouraging gesture has been from UGC and we are grateful for inviting us to give a brief presentation about our Course in the interface meeting with the Expert Committee.
