FAGGI ENRICO S.p.a. Fine Chemicals and Catalysts Division

Facility in Calenzano (FI) The company 2 Recovery and Refining Facility in Sesto Fiorentino (FI)

The company 3 The company FAGGI ENRICO S.p.a has been operating into the precious metals field since early 1960 and it occupies a surface area of about 3500 m 2. Originally FAGGI ENRICO S.p.a. started its activity as precious metal recovery and refining facility. From mid 1970’s has been created the fine chemicals division specialized in the production of precious metals compounds.

The company 4 In 2013, FAGGI ENRICO S.p.a, located in Sesto Fiorentino, established a new Fine Chemicals and Catalysts Division in Calenzano. The 2000 m 2 manufacturing site provides platinum group metal (PGM) catalysts for synthestic processes of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries. Development, caractherization and testing of new catalysts are performed in our R&D department. The flexible manufacturing platform consist of a pilot plant and full scale commercial production facility. In addition analytical laboratories provides the quality control of all raw materials, in process and finished products.

Authorizations and Certifications 5  Authorization for storage, transport and recovery of precious metals from spent catalysts  UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 certification  BS OHSAS 18001:2007 (Safety Management System for recovery and production of chemicals containing precious metal)  Establishment of an environmental management system according to EMAS regulation (2005)

1 gloves box under nitrogen for drying and packaging operations Production plant 6 Production area for homogeneous catalysts: 5 stainless steel and glass lined reactors up to 200 litres 1 glass crystallizer 100 litres and 2 filter under vacuum

Production plant 7 Production area for heterogeneus catalysts: 5 stainless steel and glass lined reactors up to 200 litres 2 stainless steel and glass lines reactors up to 3500 liters 1rotary vacuum filter 1static dryer

R&D and Analytical Laboratories 8 The R&D and analytical laboratories are equipped with the following instrumentation:  Modular reaction systems with glass vessels from 0.5 L up to 3 L  High pressure reactor with glass and steel vessels from 250 ml up to 1 L for hydrogenation and catalyst testing  Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy ICP-OES  X ray fluorescence spectroscopy  High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC

Highly qualified staff 9 Highly qualified personnel in collaboration with Chemical Institute of Organometallic compound (ICCOM-CNR) and Organic chemistry Department of University of Florence guarantee development and production of high technology catalysts.

Our services 10  Development of new catalysts tailored to customer demands  Catalyst testing on different catalytic reactions under a wide range of conditions  Production of standards and custom catalysts on industrial scale (capacity: from kg to ton quantities)  Treatment of spent catalysts and precious metal (Pt, Pd, Ag, Au, Rh, Ru) recovery through a recycling method minimising precious metal loss (capacity: 50-100 tons/year of spent catalyst solution)
