2 Wheat Scenario T. aestivum occupies Durum is 2nd most important species grown in the country. almost 96%. The aestivum wheat is invariably consumed as chapatti. Durum wheat is consumed in the form of Suji, Macaroni noodles, sevai, vermicelli, pasta and some local product like ``bati`` and ``baffle``.

11 Priority This Discussion does not mean that the importance of aestivum wheat had been eliminated. Durum and aestivum both are of equal importance in the state. However there is a possibility of export of durum from M.P. (in country & out of country) hence priority will be for durum.

13 Conclusion Availability of new durum varieties Malav Ratna, Malavshree, Malav Shakti, Sudha, and among aestivums HI 1418, HI 1479, HI 1500, JWS 17 and NP 4010 are the new hopes in increasing production and productivity. Thus state has got tremendous opportunity to produce export quality wheat for entering in global trade in future.
