DCS 2012-2013 Reading Program Songs in Psalms

This is what you do... Everyday we will read a chapter or two from the book of Psalms. While you are reading you have to be on the look out for words/phrases that are in worship songs.

What Do You Do When You Find a Match? You fill out a form. Bowen 8 His Love Endures Forever Psalms 136: 2 - 4

On the Back of the Form CHORUS: Forever God is faithful Forever God is strong Forever God is with us Forever and ever, forever (2X) From the rising to the setting sun His love endures forever And by the grace of God we will carry on His love endures forever Sing praise, sing praise Sing praise, sing praise

Big Rule You cannot hand in any form early. You can only hand it in after we have read the chapter.

When you find a song that meets the requirements it will be recognized on the Songs in Psalms bulletin board.

Each month one of the Songs in Psalms will be featured in our All-School Chapel. Watch to see if your song will be chosen!

Lets Get Started!

Psalm 1 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel for the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he mediates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5 Therfore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 2 1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?

2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the L ORD and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.

4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

6 I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.

7 I will proclaim the L ORD s decree: He said to me, You are my son; today I have become your father.

8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

9 You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.

11 Serve the L ORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.

12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
