3 INTRODUCTION apps designed to promote tourism and businesses in the smaller towns/ regions, across South Africa. will provide advertisers with a cost effective marketing tool with extensive reach provide users with a simple and effective way to plan, book and enjoy their stay in your area.

4 INTRODUCTION The series will cover over 50 towns and regions. Wild about Hoedspruit – first in the region and currently available on Apple (iStore) and Android (Google Play) Stores To download – type Hoedspruit into Stores Search bar – comes up immediately Currently busy with adding new towns within the series Immediately busy with Cape Winelands, Hartebeespoort Dam, Bela Bela, Dolphin Coast (Durban North) Towns following that will include, Tzaneen, Garden Route, Natal South Coast, Mpumalanga Panorama Route, Nelspruit, Phalaborwa, Natal Midlands Additional towns and regions will be identified thereafter.

5 WHAT IS AN APP? A mobile app is a program that is installed onto your mobile phone and/or tablet device It can be accessed at any time and does not require a browser, mobile or broadband connection to login. Allows for immediate access to information or entertainment available on each app.

6 WHY MOBILE APPS? As of July 2012, there were 250 million active, Apple and Android Smart Phone users worldwide. 57% of these browse the web through their smart phones. 42% utilise apps while researching or making travel arrangements. In July 2012, 53% of minutes spent on travel sector content, originated from apps. 83% of all mobile content consumed was via apps. There is therefore huge growth potential in the travel sector.

7 WILD ABOUT APP FEATURES Main category Listing e.g. Where to stay, Where to eat, What to do, Medical Services, Where to Shop, etc As categories grow, sub categories will be added – eg Where to stay will be further divided into Self Catering vs Hotels vs Camping etc A summary description of the Business, service, attraction or product offered. A detailed description up to 500 words. Up to 6 Pictures can be shown.

Marker listing on map with your Logo, GPS co-ordinates and directions – connected and operated through Google Maps. Direct link to your Businesses own website or Facebook page. YouTube video link of your Business.

9 WILD ABOUT APP FEATURES (cont) Business contact telephone number with direct dialling from app. Direct link to via the app. Step by Step directions to your location from the exact and current location of the user. Visual tour of your establishment. A favourites section. The ability to share via Facebook. Interactive Map with category selection through Google Maps

10 APP FEATURES EXPLAINED This Section will be scrollable and will list all the various categories of business listings This will allow the user to access Google Maps on their current location and show the various listings and their relation to each other This will allow the user to search for a specific business or service within the app This will allow the user to access their saved favourites (see next slide for more info)

11 APP FEATURES EXPLAINED (cont) Shows a preferred photo or logo of each listed facility Shows a full listing of all facilities within the specific category listed on the app – select the relevant option for more info on each facility Selected category listing Gives a brief description – first sentence taken from summary description on the actual listing Gives the user immediate distance to each facility from the exact location of the user Name of the listed facility/ business

12 APP FEATURES EXPLAINED (cont) Display primary photo of facility Takes user to additional photos of facility Shows opening times/ office hours Shows costs (where applicable/ desired) Direct access to your website A description section offering the user a detailed description of the business/ facility is available further down the screen By clicking this icon, the user will automatically call through to your preferred number By clicking this icon, the user will automatically be able to send you an By clicking this icon, the user will automatically be given step by step directions to your business from their current location This shows the user how far your business is from their current location (km or miles set according to users own settings) This allows the user to add your listings to their list of favourites (then accessible using Favourites icon at bottom of screen This allows the user to share your listing on their facebook page (or for you to share your own listing on your own facebook page) Indicates option to play YouTube clip

15 JOINING AN APP Adding your business to an App is EASY Contact the representative handling the registration of listings in your area. Or fill in the online application form– A Microsoft word application form is also available and can be ed to you if you are unable to use the online application form. Once your information has been received it will be processed. You will then be invited to view a screen shot of the front page of your listing, either on our Pinterest Board or on our Facebook page, for approval before the app is submitted to the app store. All Listings must be paid in full prior to submission of the app. Info on the app can be updated for free during the update period which will be done at around 6 months after initial launch. Its that easy !!!!

16 COMPATIBLE DEVICES The application will be available for The following smart phones: o iPhones o iPads o Android smart phones (eg Samsungs) o Android tablets (eg Samsungs) Blackberry and Windows Phone Apps will be available from September 2013 WHAT IS A SMART PHONE A smartphone is a mobile phone built on a mobile operating system, with more advanced computing capability and connectivity than a feature phone. 17 PRICING Pricing for businesses is costed at only R per year – that works out to just R per month. For anyone with multiple businesses that they would like listed on the same app, special rates are offered for each additional listing For a single business that would like to be listed under more than 1 category, each additional category (after the first) is only an additional R Festivals, Events and NGOs/ Community Based Organisations are costed at only R 500 for the year. The APPS are downloaded for FREE on the relevant App Stores

18 MARKETING OF THE APP SERIES 25% of the revenue generated through listings will be invested into marketing. M arketing strategies will include: o Adverts in various media formats, both local and international. o Google Ad Word campaigns and in app advertising. o Point of sale material distributed at key locations. o Social media platforms. o Strategic partnerships with key tourism operators (eg the partnership between the Hoedspruit Info App and Ashtons Transfers – see picture alongside) As the number of different apps in the series increases, so will the marketing spend increase
