New National Courses: design National 1/2/3 – replaces Access 1/2/3 National 4 – replaces Standard Grade (General) and Intermediate 1. No examination (Pass or Fail) National 5 – replaces Standard Grade (Credit) and Intermediate 2. External examination Grades A to D Higher and Advanced Higher will be revised to reflect aims, values, principles of Curriculum for Excellence and provide good progression from National 4 and National 5 Courses will be 160 hours (as at present)
Units in all Courses: Are more skills-based and less prescriptive Are more flexible to encourage holistic assessment where appropriate Provide more flexibility for teachers to exercise professional judgement
