Dates to know
* I am so excited for our first week of school! We
will be busy learning our classroom rules and procedures this week as well as meeting lots of new friends!
* Beginning on Tuesday, our nightly homework will consist of reading and reviewing the Letter book(s) from that day with an adult. Parents, please initial front of letter book and also write book/amount of time read on Reading Log. (Strive for 15 min each night!)
8/28: First day of school!
8/28-9/26: mClass testing
9/1: RES Spirit Day
9/4: Labor Day – No School
9/5-9/26: i-Ready testing
9/11: Scholastic Orders due!
9/19-9/22: Fall Book Fair
9/19: Family Night at Book Fair from 4:00-7:00
9/22: Early Release
9/25: Fall Pictures
9/27: Progress Reports go home!
10/6: RES Spirit Day
10/31: Early Release/End of 1st Quarter
11/1: No School for students
Our Learning Focus
Theme: All About First Grade
Math: Building Numbers and Solving Story Problems
Phonics: Review of Letters and Sounds
Reading Focus: Describe characters, setting, and major events using key details
Writing Focus: Writing narratives that recounts 2 or more sequenced events and includes details, temporal words, and a sense of closure
Science: We will begin our first Science Unit soon!
Spelling Words
This week we are learning the names of our new friends! No official spelling words until next week!
