3 3rd Review, Vienna, 16th of April 1999 SIT-MOON ESPRIT Project Nr Siemens AG Österreich Robotiker Technische Universität Wien Politecnico di Milano PAN Verlag EDIT 4 Editioni San Paolo Arista ARISTA slide 3 Short description. The Basque Cultural Web trial application is based in the contemporary art in the Basque country. It pretends to be a way of showing the world the new Basque artists tendencies, as well as a point of reference for the people interested in Basque art. Actual Situation. We sent a considerable amount of digitised documents to Robotiker. We are using Sit-Moon environment to retrieve the documents from carat and build the Web. We have already designed the home page and the screens of the main options. We are translating the contents to English and Basque (we have already translated some contents in English for the Demo). We have already programmed some of the main options. BASQUE CULTURAL WEB

4 3rd Review, Vienna, 16th of April 1999 SIT-MOON ESPRIT Project Nr Siemens AG Österreich Robotiker Technische Universität Wien Politecnico di Milano PAN Verlag EDIT 4 Editioni San Paolo Arista ARISTA slide 4 Product development phases. We usually divide the development of a multimedia product, from its conception to the final user, in the following phases: Pre-production: requires 20% percentage of time. The following tasks: The pre-production phase is integrated by the following tasks: Analysis. Definition of contents. Design of the narrative strategy. Outlining of the structure. Test writing. Production: requires 35% percentage of time. The following tasks: Search of Multimedia elements. Digitalisation of Multimedia elements. Treatment of Multimedia elements. Record and digitalisation of voice. Graphic design of the application. Programming and integration. Marketing: requires 45% percentage of time. Analysis of the market situation regarding targets, possible competitors, pricing... And all the tasks that should take part before, during and after the production phase in order to market the product successfully: Promotion (Packaging, Communication Plan, advertising...), Distribution... 5 3rd Review, Vienna, 16th of April 1999 SIT-MOON ESPRIT Project Nr Siemens AG Österreich Robotiker Technische Universität Wien Politecnico di Milano PAN Verlag EDIT 4 Editioni San Paolo Arista ARISTA slide 5 Web-CD-ROM conversion. Using Sit-Moon to make a new production with a similar content but in Cd- Rom (using a more dynamic and powerful author tool like Director), the overall savings would be the following: Sit-Moon will be used mainly in the Production phase (35% of time of the whole development): Search of images, sounds, music, videos… 15% of the production phase. Digitalisation of images, sounds, music, videos… 10% of the production phase. In the searching of multimedia elements using Sit-Moon we will save two thirds of the time, which would be a 10% of the actual time. The Digitalisation & conversion of multimedia elements will be avoided completely, so we will save the 10% of time usually employed. This is to say that we will save 20% of the time employed in the production phase which, as we have mentioned represent 35% of the total. Considering the specific weight of the production phase, we would be saving an average of 10% of our total cost per project. BASQUE CULTURAL WEB

6 3rd Review, Vienna, 16th of April 1999 SIT-MOON ESPRIT Project Nr Siemens AG Österreich Robotiker Technische Universität Wien Politecnico di Milano PAN Verlag EDIT 4 Editioni San Paolo Arista ARISTA slide 6 Profitability of Sit Moon. According to our experience and our analysis of the Spanish market, to produce (not the selling price) an average multimedia project like the final Basque Cultural CD- ROOM is worth Euros. This means that if we are saving an average of 10% of the global cost of this kind of projects (1.202) and a medium multimedia company in Spain produces from 12 to 15 projects annually, using Sit-Moon we would safe from to Euros per year and per company.
